HUMAN HEALTH IN THE CONTEXT OF ONE HEALTH IN ESTUARINE AND COASTAL REGIONS

,

The concept of One Health is an integrated and unifying approach, internationally recognized, that seeks to balance and optimize human, animal, plant, and environmental health, including ecosystems. It encourages international cooperation to address pandemics, climate change, and other health risks. Therefore, the choice of this theme is directly aligned with the objectives of the CAPES Global.edu Program, which aims to foster the creation of cooperation networks focused on addressing global challenges through scientific collaboration, sustainable development, and intercultural dialogue. The proposal is based on the understanding that the estuarine and coastal ecosystems within the regions covered by the Network are areas of intense interaction among environmental, social, and biological factors, directly affecting human health.

Within this theme, the Network institutions stand out for their work in the development of diagnostic and therapeutic inputs and technologies, the investigation of diseases and the impacts of environmental contaminants, the promotion of sustainable practices in socio-environmental health, the development of clean technologies and nanomaterials, and digital solutions to support health management. Therefore, the proposal reaffirms the Network’s commitment to cooperation and solidarity among national and international partners as the foundation for developing integrated solutions to complex global challenges, particularly those involving human health within the One Health framework.
